Roy Harris, M.D.

Dr. Harris is board certified in Family Practice. He received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at U.C. Davis where he was an All American in track. Dr. Harris received his medical degree from U.C. San Francisco and served his three-year internship / residency at Mercy Medical Center in Denver, CO with some time spent as Chief Resident.

Since coming to Rocklin in 1988, Dr. Harris has served on many committees at Sutter Roseville Medical Center including Chairman of the Family Practice Department. Dr. Harris resides in Rocklin with his wife and children. He is active in his church and in the community by supporting youth sports and has served many years as a team physician for Rocklin High School.

Kuo S. Ooi, M.D.

Dr. Ooi is board certified in Internal Medicine, Sports Medicine, and Pediatrics. He has also received extensive training in medical acupuncture. Dr. Ooi was born in Houston, TX and received his undergraduate degree in both Biology and honors Liberal Arts at the University of Texas at Austin with high honors. He received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine and completed a four year residency in combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, IN. After residency, Dr. Ooi then completed fellowship training in Primary Care Sports Medicine at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, OH. During this period, he also completed advanced training in Medical Acupuncture through the University of California at Los Angeles. He has served as a team physician for Ohio Wesleyan University (NCAA division III), Delaware Hayes High School, and Indianapolis Washington High School and is currently the team physician for Whitney High School Athletics in Rocklin, CA.

Dr. Ooi specializes in both primary care and non-operative orthopedic care and prides himself in offering the broadest and most effective therapeutic interventions short of surgery. He enjoys treating patients of all ages and levels of activity. In his spare time, he enjoys running, practicing martial arts, and spending time with his family.

Biljinder Chima, M.D.

Dr. Chima is board certified in Family Practice and board certified in Sports Medicine. A native of Roseville, he completed his high school education at Roseville High School. Dr. Chima received his undergraduate degree in Genetics at the University of California, Davis. He received his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine and completed a three year Family Practice residency at San Joaquin General Hospital in Stockton, Ca where he served his final year as Chief Resident. After residency, Dr. Chima then completed a fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine at Arizona State University in Tempe, Az. During his time at ASU, he provided on field coverage for all Division I / Pac 10 athletic events including football, basketball, soccer, wrestling, baseball, softball, and track and field. Dr. Chima is a member of both the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and American Academy of Family Practice. Dr. Chima specializes in primary care sports medicine and takes great pleasure in managing a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions. Dr. Chima is the Head team physician for William Jessup University.  He is also a clinical faculty preceptor for California Northstate University Medical school and a part time clinical preceptor for the Sutter Family Practice Residency Program.

Another interest of Dr. Chima is the diagnosis, management, and safe return to play of those athletes who have suffered from a concussion. Dr. Chima has had the pleasure of taking care of concussed athletes at both the Collegiate and High School level during his fellowship training and has extensive use with Impact software which is "a computerized neurocognitive program" used as a tool in the management of concussions. Dr. Chima is also a board member for the MindGame Concussion Consortium. In his spare time Dr. Chima loves to spend time with his wife and two children.

Bruce Roe, PA-C

Bruce Roe graduated from the Physician Assistant program at the USC School of Medicine in 1989. He moved to the Bay Area where he practiced in primary care until he "saw the light" and moved his family to Loomis in 2000. He worked at Med Clinic in family/internal medicine for four years before joining Dr. Harris. Bruce feels blessed to be able to make a career out of helping others. In his free time his wife and three sons keep him out of trouble with an unending array of sports, camping and activation in his church.

Gwendolyn Scurka, FNP

Wendy Scurka is a Family Nurse Practitioner educated as a Registered Nurse from Sierra College and received a Masters of Science degree and Family Nurse Practitioner degree from the University of Phoenix along with the acquired expert knowledge base, complex decision-making skills and clinical competencies for an expanded practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Educated to provide continual and comprehensive wellness and illness care to children and adults through disease management, health promotion, health education and preventive health services.

Experiences in the medical field have been provided in an array of work settings such as hospitals, private offices, clinics, urgent care facilities and nursing homes/long term care facilities, home visits to home bound individuals, as well as volunteering services to underprivileged individuals in multiple cities in California as well as abroad. Qualified within the nurse practitioner scope of practice to diagnose medical problems, order treatments, perform advanced procedures, prescribe medications and make referrals for a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions, both physical and mental across the life span.

In practice, Wendy has concentrated on keeping individualized care by focusing on the patient's medical issues as well as the effects of illness on the life of a patient and his or her family. This holistic approach to patient care is the core philosophy of the nurse practitioner role which emphasizes health promotion, patient education/counseling, and disease prevention.

Hobbies include spending time with family, interior design, gardening, bicycling, and film appreciation.

Julie grew up in Orlando FL before moving to Michigan to play Division 1 Lacrosse for the University of Detroit Mercy, where she received her undergraduate degree in Biology and master’s degree in physician assistant studies. Outside of medicine, she coaches lacrosse at Roseville High School and NorCal RIZE and enjoys playing soccer, hiking, snowboarding, and rock climbing in her free time.

Michelle, a Rocklin native, graduated from UC Davis with a BS in clinical nutrition. After graduating she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for a few years in both the nursing home and hospital settings to gain valuable patient care experience. After this, she completed her Masters in Physician Assistant Studies at UC Davis and was excited to serve her local community and joined the Rocklin Family Practice team. She enjoys making a difference in her patients’ lives. On the weekends you can catch her bike on the area’s nature trails.
